Boy Scouts Troop 533 – Scouting Merger

St. Paul Lutheran Church has been the chartering organization for Boy Scouts of America Troop 426
continually since 1965. An exciting change has occurred enabling St. Paul to keep scouting at the church
for the benefit of our neighboring community and youth.
Effective January 1, 2023, Troop 426 has merged with Troop 533, formerly located at Columbia Heights
United Methodist Church. This merger affords the opportunity for a revitalized scouting program to
continue at St. Paul. Cub Scout Pack 3033 will also be transferring to us from Columbus Heights.
The troop meets on Tuesday evenings in the church fellowship hall from 7:00- 8:30 pm. Youth between
the ages of 11-17 are invited to join the troop. Cub Scouts advancing from the Webelo scout program are
encouraged to check out our troop for membership. Youth Below the age of 11 are invited to join our Cub
Scout program.
The mission of scouting is to provide character-building and leadership training for youth; focusing on the building of team and individual skills in the outdoors.  The troop features a vigorous year-round schedule
of campouts, service projects, youth training, and other activities.

GREAT JOB to Scout Troop #426

Their leaders & families for providing food and serving 160+ hungry men at Faith Mission in March. They have fed the hungry men in March for years and it is so appreciated!

New Cub Scout Pack

St. Paul is starting a new cub scout pack. If any church members are aware of cub scout age youth who would be interested on joining, please invite parents and youth to the first organizational meeting on October 10, 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Den and Pack meetings will be on Mondays. There are currently 14 youth in the process of joining.

Also, Boy scout troop 426 meets on Tuesday evenings and welcomes new members. Cub scouting is for boys 7-10 years old, first through fifth grade. 11-17 year olds may join boys scouts, even if they have not previously been a boy scout.

Faith Mission March

The men at Faith Mission were fed by the church’s Boy Scout Troop 426 on March 23, 2016. The menu supplied by the troop included a barbecue ham sandwich, potato salad, green beans, banana, cookies, Hershey bar, goldfish crackers, and lemonade. About 150 meals were served. The troop meets weekly on Tuesdays at 7:00 pm in Fellowship Hall.

Faith Mission Thanks

Faith Mission serving was a great success thanks to Margaret Gabriel, Beth Brown, Becky Scott, Kay Byard, Ed Sharrock and Ginny Strausbaugh. Their contributions of cooking, serving, cookies, candy and funds allowed for 200 plus servings to hungry, cold men on January 22nd (enough for second servings!). It was awesome and thank you isn’t adequate enough.

PS: the candy bars & homemade cookies were really special to the men!  Our church Boy Scout Troop will be providing and serving the March meal for the church.
