“Now, when all the people were baptized(by John, the Baptist), and when Jesus also had been baptized, and was praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form as a dove, and a voice came from heaven, “thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased. – An excerpt from Luke 3:21-22

At the start of his ministry Jesus received assurance from the Father and the Spirit. He was praying, later. His Christian ministry started, soon thereafter.   Many men and women, in the past and in our time, have received an extraordinary assurance that their life could be transformed in doing good things for others. For many others doing the good things flowed from what they were taught in church settings or saw in the acts of their Christian parents.   Either way – much goodness flows. Be part of what began in Jesus, be part of what flows from our Christian community, each day, any time you meet others and in all kinds of events. Let your thankfulness flow outward in all that you do.   When you start a prayer in the morning, or whenever you have an opportunity to think about any aspect of your Christianity, let it challenge you to be part of the outward flow of goodness. And always rejoice in the little ways the wonderful things happen within you.   Try a prayer, with that exact petition today, as you read this meditation. And follow it up on other days. See where it takes you, see how it changes you, see how it adds to the happiness and thankfulness. The world could be a better place. “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.”, the song goes.My prayer: May God say of you as God said of Jesus, ” With Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, I am well pleased. – Gaylord Lodegaard Gaylord LodegaardLutheran Ministry in Cincinnati, Ohio and Muncie, Indiana from 1969 – 1977.  Joined SPLC in 2020 with wife, Lynn.  Daughters are Kate, Elementary teacher and Anne, retired Coast Guard Officer.  Four granddaughters.  6111 Clubhurst Ct., Galloway, Ohio 43119.  614-878-8130.
